Bourton-on-the-Hill’s annual Open Gardens event always prove a hit with visitors, with the Bourton House garden proving a wonderful draw and starting point. It was also a special occasion for Porch House, as its garden was celebrating its centenary.  This year we were blessed with beautiful June sunshine, a perfect afternoon.

The photo shows a summer garden, with irises, roses and delphiniums in bloom. The bed is in the middle of the picture with a lawned area to the left and the edge of a house behind. Its bay window is set into Cotswold stone walls. The sky is cloudless. Mature trees provide a backdrop to the scene.

A flower bed is filled with light purple irises and red tulips. Cotswold stone houses can be seen behind the planting and the back of man in a pale blue t- shirt can be seen, he has his hands on his hips.

A purple flowering wisteria grows around the side of a Cotswold stone barn, framing double wooden doors. Gravel is on the ground in front, decorated with some flower filled terracotta pots. The sky is clear blue.

Overhanging trees, upright trellis and shrubs create a shaded walkway underneath. The paths leads to double wooden, the entrance into a stone barn. To the left of the doors sit flower filled terracotta pots. the sky is clear blue.

The manicured garden has lawned areas, a pyramid topiary and a bush shaped into a head. A wooden pyramid shaped trellis has pink roses climbing up it. A stone bird bath sits amongst the plants. Mature trees and bushes create a backdrop to the garden.

An open sided barn, supported with wooden pillars is topped with a Cotswold slate roof. It is dark inside. In front of it are a group of low shrubs and taller trees provide a backdrop to the image.

The neat allotment area is bathed in sunshine, made up of several beds of planting. A wooden greenhouse sits at the back, with tomatoes growing inside. Tall trees provide a backdrop to the plot.
