This historic photo is labelled 'Bourton on the Hill - looking up'. It shows the rough road leading up towards the church, with stone cottages lining each side. A woman stands to the left in a blouse and long skirt. The photo would have been taken in the early part of the twentieth century. The original black an white image has had colour added to it.

Bourton on the Hill c1920
An archive photograph labelled, 'The Hollow, Bourton on the Hill.' The image looks down the main road towards Moreton in Marsh. A girl, with hair in plaits, is running down the left hand pavement. A bench and noticeboard can be seen a little further down the road, There are cottages and houses on either side of the street. A vehicle is driving up the hill, possibly a small bus. The picture is likely to be from the mid twentieth century.

The road is unsurfaced. Standing on the right are two men next to a horse and trap, one man has a basket on his back. Riding down the hill in an open horse drawn carriage is another man. Their clothing and transport suggest the picture is from the early twentieth century. A child sits outside a house on the left. The Horse and Groom pub can be seen in the background,

The road is unsurfaced and steps lead down from cottages on the left had bank, straight onto the road. Five people can be seen standing in the road, including a gentleman to the left, two girls pushing a pram. Their clothes suggest the photograph was taken in the early part of the twentieth century.
